Commercial Boiler Plant Room — Wantage

Project overview

Planned maintenance and burner service for a commercial heating plant serving offices in Wantage, Oxfordshire.

The problem

An office building in Wantage needed reliable heating with minimal downtime. The existing plant room equipment had not been serviced to a consistent schedule. During the visit, APS also identified several safety and compliance matters that warranted attention: the installation did not include a fire valve, meaning that in the event of a fire the oil supply would not shut off automatically; the oil storage tank did not meet current OFTEC requirements; and no carbon monoxide alarm had been fitted within the boiler room.

Work completed by APS

APS completed a full burner service, carried out comprehensive safety checks, tested the controls and produced a clear report for the facilities manager. All identified safety and compliance issues were documented, and a quote for the recommended remedial works—including installation of a compliant fire valve, upgrading the oil tank installation where required, and fitting a carbon monoxide alarm—was prepared and issued on the same day. A planned maintenance programme was also agreed to support ongoing reliability and compliance.

Outcome
