Vaillant Heat Pump Installation — Newbury

Project overview

A renewable heating upgrade for a six-bedroom Newbury home, replacing ageing oil heating with a designed Vaillant air source heat pump system.

The problem

The existing oil heating system had reached the end of its life. The homeowners wanted to move to renewable heating, but the existing heating distribution system was unsuitable for efficient heat pump operation and required significant upgrading.

Work completed by APS

APS completed the project over two weeks, including:

• Removal of the existing oil boiler
• Removal and safe decommissioning of the oil tank
• Complete repipe of the central heating system
• Replacement of radiators throughout the property with larger emitters suitable for low-temperature heat pump operation
• Installation of twin Vaillant aroTHERM plus air source heat pumps
• Installation of a new unvented hot water cylinder
• Installation of new room-by-room heating controls throughout the property
• Filling the complete heating system with the correct glycol mixture for frost protection
• Pressure testing, commissioning and full system performance testing
• MCS certification completed for BUS Grant eligibility

Outcome
